I was invited at Château Mayne-Lalande for a vertical tasting with a few vintages: 2017-2016-2015-2010-1995.
This domain is based in the Médoc on the Listrac appellation.
A great opportunity to discover this domain and its owner : Bernard Lartigue. A very friendly moment, we chatted so much that I didn’t have time to visit the cellar! So it will be a good reason to come back. The area is very quiet and nice.
Château Mayne-Lalande 2017
Expressive aroma of black fruit, blackberries and blackcurrant with some melted spices. Beautiful texture on the palate, it is very well worked, the tannins are quiet strong but with a certain finesse. This 2017 can be apprehended very easily. Very pleasant from now and with a potential in the coming years.

Château Mayne-Lalande 2016
The 2016 of Château Mayne-Lalande offers a very interesting part where
red fruits like gooseberries are greatly melted with some black fruits, especially plum. This wine has a nice freshness, we feel the sun on brilliant fruits. Good length with a delicate and fine feeling on the palate.

Château Mayne-Lalande 2015
Beautiful deep notes of black fruits, such as plum and blackcurrant. Nice texture both supple and powerful. The tannins are very present, but despite powerful this 2015 stays balanced by a certain finesse. Slight astringency in the final which adds complexity.

Château Mayne-Lalande 2010
A mix of Blackberries and blackcurrants in a very deep blend. Such a power! The texture is strong, very present, but at the same time, fine, rich and complex. Some tertiary notes of undergrowth slightly begin to appear. This 2010 is powerful, long and definitely made for ageing.

Château Mayne-Lalande 1995
Beautiful notes of dried fruits, such as redcurrants and raspberries. Some fresher black fruits appear, especially blackcurrant. You can also feel spices like black pepper. On the palate it is tannic. The length is long and offers complex undergrowth notes. This 1995 is very interesting to drink now.
